Romans 12:21
This verse stuck out to me a lot. With all going on in the world lately, I have found it hard to base a solid and true opinion based on what God truly feels about evil and how to handle it. I still am unsure but I do know one thing for sure; our God is a good God. And those who do His work will truly see His love and goodness in the entirety of their lives, despite all of the negativity and evil placed in this world as well. I mean, without hate and evil, how would we truly know or cherish love and goodness? So although I still have confusion about many things going on, I still do know the one truest thing of all, that our God is good, and whatever goes on in this world is all a part of His big plan.
An addition to this verse is one that my friend Sean pointed out. It was in the same chapter (Romans 9:10-18) and it said:
“10 Not only that, but Rebekah’s children had one and the same father, our father Isaac. 11 Yet, before the twins were born or had done anything good or bad—in order that God’s purpose in election might stand: 12 not by works but by him who calls—she was told, “The older will serve the younger.” 13 Just as it is written: “Jacob I loved, but Esau I hated.” 14 What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! 15 For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” 16 It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy. 17 For the Scripture says to Pharaoh: “I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.” 18 Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy, and he hardens whom he wants to harden.”
In what I got from this, I now understand that not all is meant to be good. In the craziness of this world, God’s love is meant to be brought up through the constant struggle of good and evil, as to try and help you make your final decision to follow Him or not. We all have free will. But just like if you are writing and presenting a persuasive speech, you are going to have to get both sides of the bargain until you decide which you want. Which i think is ultimately one of the bigger goals of God creating and hardening some hearts, in hopes to bring forward the ones He needs to create and further the Kingdom of God.
